Coastal Marine Tourism

Coastal Marine Tourism is recreational activities that involve travel away from ones place of residence and which have as their host or focus the marine environment (where the marine environment is defined as those waters which are saline and tide affected).

-Mark Orams, 1999

Sustainable Tourism is tourism that seeks to minimize ecological and socio-cultural impacts while providing economic benefits to local communities and host countries. Sustainable tourism meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

-Mahonk Agreement, Weaver 2001
